FileRoomLedger

Legal

Terms of service

Last updated October 11, 2026

By creating a FileRoomLedger account you agree to these terms. If you sign up for a firm, you agree on its behalf.

The service

FileRoomLedger is a tool for recording where paper client files are, storage boxes, retention periods and destruction decisions. It is only as good as what was entered, and it applies the retention years you set; it does not give legal advice. Before destroying any file, confirm it is eligible under your firm's retention policy, your professional conduct rules and any legal hold. We aren't responsible for files lost, misplaced or destroyed, or for retention decisions made using the service. Do not upload documents or the contents of client files; the service is designed to hold matter numbers, labels, locations and dates only.

Your data

Your company's records belong to you. You can export them at any time, and we'll send a copy on request. See the privacy policy for what we store.

Availability

We work to keep FileRoomLedger running but can't promise it will never be down. The service is provided "as is", and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms and will email account owners about material changes. You can stop using FileRoomLedger at any time; we may suspend accounts that break these terms.
